Stephen Kellogg was born, raised and currently resides in New England. He has four kids and married his high school sweetheart, and he has written about them extensively on all of his records. Stephen put out a book in 2020 called “Objects in the Mirror: Thoughts on a Perfect Life from an Imperfect Person,” a collection of essays about what he has found to be the most important aspects of a life well-lived. HIs show has morphed into one with a fair amount of comedy baked into the storytelling as he writes what he believes to be true, and tries to have a sense of humor about the stuff that hurts. Kellogg’s latest record, “Keep It Up, Kid,” was released at the end of 2022. Side B is a suite of five interconnected songs that explore the journey from youth to middle age. Side A is a note of solidarity for anyone looking for hope in hopeless situations. Stephen has played more than 2,200 concerts over the last 20 years, traveled Europe supporting Gregory Alan Isakov and Josh Ritter, sang duets with Adam Duritz and Rosanne Cash, and he toured the US with Matt Nathanson this winter. He delivered a TedX talk in 2013 that has led to speaking engagements for some amazing organizations, and he earned an “Armed Forces Entertainer of the Year” honor as he has performed for the US military as well as a number of children’s hospitals. Stephen says he has made music in spite of the challenges and managed to build a life that resembles that of his listeners in all the ways that matter.

The 50th concert of the Ross Farm Music Series will be Stephen’s third visit to the historic estate. He first played on the patio stage in 2018, and brought his Annual Family BBQ to the Farm in 2019.

Opening the concert is another Ross Farm favorite, Brooks Hubbard. Brooks is a national touring independent artist from the mountains of rural New England. Since the age of three, his connection with music has led him on a path of continuous growth, both as an artist and human being. From writing songs about the Iraq war at age 15 to recording with members of Jackson Browne’s and James Taylor’s bands, countless house shows and concert venues, to opening for artists like KT Tunstall, Robert Cray, Reckless Kelly, Matt Mays, and Stephen Kellogg, Brooks has put in his 10,000 hours and then some to become a powerful singer, songwriter and entertainer.

Guests should bring lawn chairs or blankets, and picnics are welcome, carry-in, carry-out style.
