Autumn Acoustic Afternoon at the Ross Farm featuring Matt Hires with the opener, The End of America.
November 8, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Singer/Songwriter Matt Hires made his recording debut at the age of 23, introducing his confessional songcraft with his first solo album, Take Us to the Start. Influenced by artists from Dashboard Confessional and the Get Up Kids to Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, Hires began writing music during his late teens, when his father gave him a handmade 1977 acoustic guitar. He has toured extensively since 2008, supporting artists such as Needtobreathe, Matchbox 20, Parachute, Paolo Nutini, the Goo Goo Dolls and may others. His songs have been heard on TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Cougartown, Life Unexpected and more. His latest album is This World Won’t Last Forever, But Tonight We Can Pretend.
The End of America is not some grand political statement. It is a band of friends, singers, and travelers. Blending three part harmony with rock and Americana, the Philadelphia-based trio achieves a style that resonates with fans of Ryan Adams as well as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Since their inception in 2010, The End of America has recorded and released two EPs and a single, performed at festivals including SXSW, Savannah Stopover, and Baltimore Folk Fest, and has performed with the likes of Beck, Anthony Green, Gary Louris of the Jayhawks, and Rocky Votolato. Members of the End of America are James Downes, Trevor Leonard and Brendon Thomas.
